Sandra Spotts, artist. Sandra is a native of Little Rock, Arkansas, and a current resident of Eureka Springs. She holds a degree in Art from the University of Arkansas with a minor in English. Spotts has spent many years as an art educator, teaching elementary and junior high students, while maintaining an active practice as a professional artist and designer.
Working primarily in an abstract expressionist style, Spotts has also distinguished herself as a weaver, papermaker, and creator of sculptural contemporary basketry, earning several awards throughout her career. One of her works is part of the permanent collection of the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts (formerly Arkansas Arts Center).

Her love of writing and storytelling deeply influences her mixed media painting style, in which she often incorporates fragments of letters, books, found objects, and original prose. Spotts’ themes emerge from highly personal and emotional responses to life events, observations of nature, and global happenings. She is also co-producer and performer on the live storytelling show “Homegrown Tales” and exhibits her work regionally and nationally.
Jay Lane, artist. Familiar images made from various materials and objects, found and recycled, placed in a format of controlled chaos, is at this point in my journey, the medium of choice for the “Finding Our Way”” exhibit at Gotahold Brewing. I see society as satirical subject matter that exists in a surrealistic landscape of twisted perspective that is filled to the fences with social ironies.
And yet, I still have to maintain my sense of humor about what has been and what will be with the activities du jour based on fear, war, greed, and hate. With this sense also comes my interpretations, expressed visually based on my experiences, feelings, and health, from finding my way as an artist. I hope these pieces give you a sense of curiosity that you continue to carry with you while you are finding your way through all of this we humans call life.
