The average cost of one prescription is $40 a month. In 2020, People Helping People spent $$ 26,180 on medicines to assist Carroll County residents. PHP purchased over 900 prescriptions for almost 300 patients and work with all six local pharmacies. This is an increase of 44% over the expenditures in 2019!
Since 1991, People Helping People, otherwise known as PHP, has been assisting eligible residents of Carroll County, AR, with the purchase of desperately needed prescriptions.
There are programs to help with food and rent but no programs for instant help with prescriptions. When a person needs a prescription filled , they need it immediately. They can’t wait for several months to get prescription assistance with the pharmaceutical companies. And most prescriptions do not have an assistance program.
PHP encourages people to help stretch their dollars out by using PHP for medicine help so they can pay for utilities, rent and food.
There is always have a bigger demand when school starts.
There is always have a bigger demand in the cold months when utility bills increase.
There is no monetary limit on how much PHP can help but they do also help find the long term solution for medicine needs
People Helping People anticipates a much higher demand with rising COVID cases and no additional stimulus and pandemic unemployment benefits. In July, they spent $1,910.00 on prescriptions which might be a record for the organization and telling of need as the fall months arrive.
Our goal is to raise $2,000 or more for this organization through our #tipsfortransformation Thursdays (see our FB events page for scheduled events), sales from Mary Springer’s art and generous donations from people like YOU!
