October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month which is why we’ve selected The Purple Flower to support for the second year in a row.
There are some organizations that we wish with all our hearts we didn’t need in this world. Sadly, hurt people hurt; they hurt themselves, they hurt others, often both. That’s no excuse for bad behavior of any kind. Abuse can happen to either gender, any age and all races. Once in an abusive relationship, it’s very difficult to get out of it. That’s why we need organizations like The Purple Flower.

The Purple Flower was started because on Dec 31, 2012, a young mother, Laura Aceves, lost her life trying to escape her abuser. She was murdered, her 4 month old child was left by her side. At that time, there were no services for women like Laura in the county.
In 2021, over 100 cases have been opened to help people experiencing domestic violence. The organization has simultaneously lost some much needed grant funding.
Our artist of the month, Jay Lane, has graciously and generously agreed to donate 25% of sales from his art to The Purple Flower. We’ll be donating our tips on Thursdays to The Purple Flower. If you can’t make it out on a Thursday, but you’d like to contribute, you can make a donation here: https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/ThePurpleFlower
